School Based Occupational Therapy Services
 

Purposeful Play Therapy Center provides school based occupational therapy services through contractual agreements with public schools, private schools, charter schools, and educational programs throughout Western Massachusetts. Occupational therapy services support students in developing the skills needed to participate successfully in school activities including handwriting, fine motor development, sensory processing, attention, emotional regulation, and functional independence within the classroom environment. Services are designed to align with educational goals and support students in accessing and participating in the general education curriculum.
 

Contracted School Services
 

Schools may obtain occupational therapy services through a contracted service agreement with Purposeful Play Therapy Center. Contracted services may include direct therapy, consultation, evaluation, and collaboration with educational teams to support student participation and success. Services are tailored to the needs of each school and may be provided on a part time, full time, or short term coverage basis.

Approach to School Based Occupational Therapy

School based occupational therapy focuses on supporting a student’s ability to participate in educational activities and access the school curriculum. Intervention may occur within the classroom, in small groups, or through consultation with teachers and staff to support carryover of strategies throughout the school day. A collaborative, strengths based approach is used to support students, educators, and teams in developing practical strategies that promote independence and meaningful participation in the school environment.
